Who are the Pontypridd & Rhondda Round Table?
We are your local chapter of Round Table, a social and charitable organisation for men aged about 18–45 that meets regularly to take part in social activities and community fundraising, we are based in and around Pontypridd with members from across the whole of RCT.
Our group was formed in 1969 and will amazingly celebrate 60 years in 2029, we are not the biggest Round Table – but we punch above our weight when it comes to our Fundraising efforts and impact we have in the communities we represent, as well as with our range of socials.
We meet twice a month; for a pub quiz on the first Wednesday of the month and for a social event later in the month, you can see our recent socials on our socials page!
We are known locally for our 2 big seasonal fund raisers, The Pontypridd Big Bang firework display in November and our Santa Sleigh run in December.
The Big Bang is the largest display in South Wales and attracts thousands of visitors to Ynysangharad park in Pontypridd. This event is our main fund raiser for the year and is put on entirely with with volunteers. The Santa Sleigh runs through December and sees us pulling Santa on his sleigh round the RCT area to as many towns and villages as we can manage giving out sweets, and giving everyone an opportunity to meet, talk to and have their photo taken with Santa. It is primarily a community event but we do take donations with everything collected going to charity.
How it works
Membership is typically between 18–45 years old, focused on building strong social connections.
Unlike other tables we have made our more formal meetings (where we discuss which charities we are supporting etc.) fun by combining with a Pub Quiz and some food. We also have monthly social events, some are free, some have a small fee to cover the costs.
Fundraising and community focus are core parts of what we do. We raise and donate funds to local charities, support groups, and individuals in need. Every penny we raise is spent helping people in our local communities.
This mix of social + service is intentional: friendship and teamwork fuel the group’s capacity to organise larger community events and meaningful fundraising efforts, rather than existing solely as a hobby club.
This means we’re not just a static charity — we are a living organisation that blends social connections, skills development, and community service into recurring, structured activities.
Current Table Members
Stephen Lowbridge | Chairman

My name is Stephen, I’m 42, I live in Pontypridd and I am the current chair of the Pontypridd & Rhondda Round Table.
I have been a member for 2 years after joining on a whim when I saw a post on Facebook about getting out and trying something new.
Since joining I have tried lots of new things like axe throwing, foot golf and indoor bowls.
Sam | Vice Chair & Treasurer
Hey,
I’m Sam and I am the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of Pontypridd & Rhondda Roundtable.
Originally from Kent, I joined the Roundtable shortly after moving to Cilfynydd 2 years ago hoping to meet some other people from the area and have something to do every now and then!
Instead what I found were great friends, great nights out all while raising loads of money for people across RCT.
Roundtable has given my confidence, some great laughs and helped to me make RCT home.

Mark | Immediate Past Chairman

I’m Mark and I like dressing up.
Sean Howard | Secretary
Hi I’m Sean, 35 years old and based in Mountain Ash. When I first moved to the area, I didn’t know anyone, but I knew I wanted to get stuck into the community and meet some great people along the way. That’s when I discovered Round Table and I’ve never looked back!
I’ve been a member for the past two years, and it’s been an incredible mix of giving back and trying new things. I’ve helped bring the Big Bang Fireworks in Ponty to life, taken part in the Santa Sleigh runs (easily one of the most brilliant, chaotic, festive thing I’ve ever done), and jumped into loads of activities (from archery and axe throwing to simulator racing).
Round Table has given me friends, memories, and the chance to make a difference locally… and I’m only just getting started!
